DESIGN
LLSTOL is a very simple, comfortable and multi-functional lounge chair. It consist of two identically “L” shaped elements that can be easily folded and stored in a small space. The “L” shaped element proved to be the configuration best adaptable to multiple uses.

USABILITY
Its basic use is as a lounge chair, but it can be transformed into other furniture types very easy and without complex details or metal components. You can also assemble small table or bench and with more elements even a bookshelves or some kind of landscape.

PROJECT
The project has began as a short workshop in Ljubljana, Slovenia at the Faculty of Architecture on the chair, useful for young people, users of smaller apartments and affordable price. Starting point for developing a chair was simplicity and using as minimal number of elementa as possible. After one year of research, testing and adapting we have the “final L” shaped elements and first prototypes.

KICKSTARTER
With the help of many friends we were able to start Kickstarter campaign in September 2012 and raise almost $22,000 to start large production series. LLSTOL become first design product in Slovenia to raise founds on crowdfunding platform. In total we collect orders for 117 LLSTOL chairs. MATERIAL
Material was also one of starting point for developing a chair and it is laminated molded plywood. 1.2 mm thin layers of wood are bend and pressed together in a mould. It is an excellent material for designing furniture as it is sustainable and has strong compressive and tensile characteristics. Slovenia is one of few countries with very high percentage of forests, app. 58% of land is forest. For the LLSTOL we are using quality beech wood which is also the most common type of wood in our country. It is coated with matte lacquer.

DEVELOPMENT
LLSTOL has great potential for further development. In addition, it is possible to produce different perforations, colours or use textile accessory “sock”. With them you can customize your chair. New variants will be presented progressively and plan is to produce a chair also in different marerials, e.g. for permanent outdoor use from fiber cement.
